Code Runner Backend
Distributed Online Judge in Go
High-performance modular code execution platform developed entirely in Go (Golang) over ~3 months of work. Runs untrusted user code in 10 programming languages inside strictly isolated Kubernetes pods on Amazon EKS with fine-grained CPU, memory, and timeout limits. Each submission opens a WebSocket for live input/output.
Spawning isolated ephemeral Kubernetes pods on EKS with dedicated cgroups and wall-time limits per execution rather than running untrusted code in a shared Docker daemon.
Initial queue worker dispatched all languages to the same pool, causing long-running compilations to block instant Python scripts until dedicated tiered workers were implemented. [TODO: re-run and confirm the JVM startup figure]
